Links for the week

… or even the month. My girl and I are off on the final leg of our autumn/winter travels on Friday, taking in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, back in the New Year. So this may be the last post here for a while unless something big kicks off new music style in the next 48 hours. See you in ’07!

Because I’ve been unsubscribing to a lot of my most active rss feeds this week (the online equivalent of switching off the plugs and locking the windows) it’s a sparse bunch of links:

From hypebot: RIAA Petitions For Lower Songwriter Royalties. Yup, they’re all about protecting the artists …

Meanwhile, Sir Andrew Gowers’ report on UK IP law – including the review into extending recording copyright beyond 50 years is out [whole thing] – and it looks to have confirmed Katie Melua and Mick Hucknall’s worst nightmares: no proposal to extend copyright in recordings beyond the current 50 years. Huzzah to Gowers!

And Scott has some intriguing data on 25 years of classical music sales. Go read – you’ll be surprised.

  2. Dear Tim,

    Greetings from India.

I am an Indian Christian of Portuguese Descent.

I am a Classical Music Buff and Connoisseur from India. I was born and raised on the Classics of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Chopin, etc.

I am looking for Mozart’s 9 Symphonies which were made available by Danish National Radio in January and February 2006 on their Podcast Site.

I missed them and have been loking for them for the last 8-9 months.

Do you know anyone who could send them to me on a “Piecemeal Basis” ?

Regards and Have a Good Trip,
